Learn to Windsurf on Bristol’s Most Beautiful Lake
West Country Water Park is one of the few places in the Bristol area where you can learn to windsurf on open water. Our beginner lessons take place on a natural lake in Winterbourne, North Bristol — a unique lakeside setting combining sailing and board sports. Sessions are relaxed, instructor-led, and designed for complete beginners. No experience needed — just enthusiasm for trying something active and different outdoors.

Your Visit, Step by Step
- Arrive at Site — Check in at reception near Winterbourne, North Bristol.
- Land Simulator — Start on the shore with a simulator session to get a feel for the sail and board before touching the water.
- Kit Up — Pick up your board, sail, buoyancy aid, and wetsuit (hire available on-site).
- Safety Briefing — Your instructor runs through everything you need to know before you head out.
- On the Water — One hour of instructor-led tuition on the lake, learning to stand, sail across the water, and turn back.
- Warm Down — Head to our on-site café for a hot drink and enjoy the rest of your visit.
